    Veterinary medicine for exotic pets is growing as the popularity of these animals increase. With better public education in health, nutritional and environmental management, all species have a greater chance for living longer and healthier lives.   • BLOOD TRANSFUSION

    We are able to provide blood transfusions to your pet. Whole blood, packed red blood cells, fresh frozen plasma and frozen plasma is available from several animal blood banks. A synthetic oxygen carrying product called Oxyglobin is also available.


  • BOARDING & DAYCARE

    Pets are like our children – we feed, nurture and lavish attention on them. Our highly qualified kennel attendants do the same when you can't be there. We provide tender loving care (such as brushing and cuddling), and supervised outdoor playtime to keep them happy and active. We also provide boarding of geriatrics and those pets with special medical needs in our hospital.

    DAYCARE:
    Is your pet unhappy or lonely while you're at work? Give your companion the personal attention he or she deserves throughout the day. We offer the same TLC and playtime offered to our longer-term guests.

  • BRONCHOSCOPY

    High-tech fiber optics permits direct visual examination of your pet’s respiratory system. This allows for more accurate diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the nasal cavity, trachea and lungs. We also perform Rhinoscopy(nasal cavity), Cystoscopy(urinary tract and vaginal area), Gastrointestinal endoscopy, and Otoscopy(external and middle ear).

  • MED RX VETSCOPE

    This fiber optic scope allows us to use advanced treatment for ear diseases of dogs and cats.  Generated images can be used to view the disease process before and after treatment.  Does your dog or cat shake its head?  This device will allow us to see if there is an underlying medical problem.  Vetsuite_Img_45464

  • DENTAL CARE

    Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth. We use modern and safe ultrasound to clean each tooth thoroughly (our dental machineis on the newest on the market today: the iM3 Pro 2000 ultra (called the Rolls Royce of dental machines)- above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity. Advanced dental care is available, including root canals, caps and braces through a professional relationship with a board certified veterinary dentist.

  • DOG TRAINING AND PUPPY KINDERGARTEN

    We offer a puppy kindergarten class for all of our new puppy patients. This class provides early socialization skills to puppies so that they grow up to be well adjusted adults. It also provides owners with invaluable information about socialization, obedience and why the puppy behaves as it does. This is a great class for new pet owners as well as seasoned 'parents'.

    Obedience classes are available for dogs of all ages. Individual and small group classes are provided to help you and your pet enjoy each other.


  • EMERGENCY AND CRITICAL CARE

    In any emergency, seconds count. Our experienced staff,is equipped to administer the ABCs of basic life support – Airway, Breathing, Circulation/Cardiac compressions. Emergency care is offered during regular business hours. In addition, we use the services of a local, fully staffed emergency center.

  • ENDOSCOPY

    High-tech fiber optics permits direct visual examination and biopsies of your pet’s gastrointestinal system. This allows for more accurate diagnosis and treatment of oral, esophageal, stomach, small intestinal and colonic disease. Foreign objects can also be removed without the need for surgery. Endoscopy decreases hospitalization and is more cost effective than surgery. We also provide Rhinoscopy, Bronchoscopy, Cystoscopy and Otoscopy to our small animal patients.

  • HOSPICE/EUTHANASIA SERVICES

    Saying goodbye to a long-time friend is painful. We work with our clients to ensure their pet's comfort and dignity. Services include taking care of the remains as directed by the client. There are several options available to satisfy our clients wishes.

  • IMMUNIZATION AND WELLNESS CARE

    We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. The time and effort invested in Wellness programs has rewards for both pets and owners. Our Wellness programs are designed specifically for your pet and include: Comprehensive physical exam; internal parasite testing; heartworm and flea control; a vaccination program tailored to your pet's risks and needs;  and specialized blood tests for all life stages. We feel that we should be proactive about health care especially as your pet turns "40", which is about 5 years of age for most pets.

  • INTERNAL MEDICINE

    We cover all areas of internal medicine, including: Cardiology; Ophthalmology; Neurology; Dermatology; Gastroenterology; Oncology and Endocrinology. Our doctors have special interests in various medical and surgical areas.  We also have close professional relationships with specialists at The Ohio State University and MedVet Columbus.

  • LASERS

    Lasers are a minimally invasive alternative to traditional surgery. Lasers replace scalpels in many procedures, and are useful for a wide range of conditions, such as cyst, tumor, and wart removal as well as hysterectomies and neuters , and can even be used in declawing. Laser procedures result in less pain; less bleeding and less swelling. Their use results in less post-operative discomfort for the patient and potentially quiker recovery.

  • MICROCHIPPING

    Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. We offer the most widely used microchip products to increase the chances of a safe recovery.

  • NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING

    Some pets require special food, and all pets benefit from a balanced diet. Our trained and certified staff is available to help you choose the right diet for your pet to keep him or her happy, healthy and active. Many medical conditions require special diets such as heart, liver and kidney diseases. We also have diets for food allergies and for cognitive dysfunction which can affect many older patients.

    We are able to provide nutritional support to critically ill patients by the placement of specialized feeding tubes. These procedures can help our patients recover faster because of aggressive nutritional support.


  • ONCOLOGY

    We are able to provide support to patients with cancer. Our trained staff is aware of the special needs of cancer patients and their owners. We are able to provide medical, surgical and nutritional conseling.  Our hospital is well trained in chemotheraputic protocols, side effects and outcomes so that you will be able to make educated decisions for your pet with cancer. Through our relationship with MedVet we can also offer radiation therapy and combination therapies.


  • PAIN MANAGEMENT

    Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do. We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in animals is the essence of good patient care. We take special care in considering pain management in all medical and surgical situations. All surgical patients receive preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative pain management and their response to therapy is assessed before discharge from the hospital.

  • RADIOLOGY

    Radiology – or X-rays – help our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular(cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems. We are able to radiograph any size of small animal patients and provide contrast radiography for the gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, joints, cardiovascular system, and spinal cord.Vetsuite_Img_45471

  • SPECIALIZED SURGERY

    We maintain relationships with specialists at The Ohio State University and MedVet Columbus so that we may refer your pet to the best board certified surgeon for his or her specific surgical needs.

    Riverside Animal Care Center is also fortunate to work closely with Dr. Dan Wolfe. Dr. Wolfe completed his surgical residency at OSU and is available for cosultations and specialized orthopedic surgery. In these cases your pet's pre, intra and post operative care will be given by our trained Animal Health Technicians and the procedure will be performed at our hospital.


  • SURGERY

    We offer the most advanced surgical techniques and technology. All patients are carefully screened for safety, and anesthetics are specifically tailored to your pet.   • ULTRASOUND

    This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Pregnancy exams are also available. Ultrasound is often used to facillitate biopsies that are used to diagnose medical conditions. With the ultrasound this can be done with light sedation and be minimally invasive with a very short recovery time.

  • DIAGNOSTIC AND LABORATORY

    We also offer diagnostic laboratory testing in house with our Idexx LaserCyte, VetLyte Analyzer, VetTest 8008 and LW Scientific Centrifuges.  We are able to perform in hospital testing for Complete Blood Counts and Chemistry Profiles to fecal test, gram stains, test for Heartworm, Parvo, and FelV/FIV.  If we are unable to perform the test in house, we will send it to a laboratory and should get the results back within a reasonable period of time.    Vetsuite_Img_45465

  • PREVENTION OF HEARTWORM DISEASE

    We recommend monthly prevention against Heartworm in both dogs and cats but also prevention against fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites.  Feline Heartworm disease is becoming more prevalent over the years even if your cat is indoors.  Currently there is no treatment for Heartworm disease in cats so prevention is very important for them.  Ask a team member about starting your pet on prevention. 

  • WEIGHT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

  • DIGITAL DENTAL RADIOLOGY

    We have the ability to take our very own digital dental radiographs with the Image Vet 70acp. What cannot be seen to the naked eye will show up on these pictures.
